About United Way Cape Breton

 

United Way Cape Breton is an autonomous organization operated by a voluntary Board of Directors chosen from the community it serves which governs decision-making. In addition, United Way Cape Breton has three paid staff that runs the organization.

Q:  What standards does United Way Centraide Canada set for United Way Cape Breton?

A:  Paid employees and volunteer board members have a fiduciary and moral responsibility to businesses and individuals in the community who donate to United Way Cape Breton. Membership to United Way Centraide Canada is governed by a membership agreement which gives United Way Cape Breton the right to use the United Way Centraide name and logo and requires that they abide by certain standards.  The membership agreement signed by United Way Cape Breton contains standards of excellence related to: human resources; financial resources; financial support; communications; and management.

A: United Way Cape Breton brings communities together – business, labour, governments, voluntary sector organizations and residents – to improve individual lives and our collective living conditions. No other organization supports such a broad range of programs and services.
